The U.S. will provide $20 million in aid to strengthen Ukraine's borders

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the U.S. Embassy have signed a joint plan to strengthen the security of the northern and eastern sections of the Ukrainian border, for which $20 million in assistance will be provided. The project will be launched in January 2022.

The project envisages technical assistance to border guards to effectively counter emerging threats to Ukraine’s national security, including the possibility to provide the State Border Guard Service with unmanned aircraft systems, special vehicles, video monitoring, communications, equipment, etc.

Provision of support is primarily aimed at the priority needs of the linear units of the state border, on protection of personnel, on personal safety, on the comfort of being in the field, on the qualitative performance of tasks at the state border.
