The most contentious projects of Ilon Musk in his career

Elon Musk is one of the most discussed personalities in the world today. In 2022, the head of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and many other companies has a fortune of a fabulous $264.6 billion, making him the richest man in the world.

He recently reasserted himself by completely buying the microblogging service Twitter for $40 billion, promising to preserve free speech and unleash the site’s enormous potential. Throughout his career, Elon Musk has done much to advance technology, which is why many people consider him a genius and follow almost every action he takes.

However, some of his achievements are controversial – some of his projects are heavily criticized, others are feared, and still others are considered pointless altogether. Here are four of Ilon Musk’s projects that people have a lot of questions about. These seem to be very hot topics for discussion.

For most people, Elon Musk is the creator of some of the most popular electric cars under the Tesla brand. Undoubtedly, they are great vehicles – they are fast, beautiful, environmentally friendly, and have a huge display that you can even watch TV shows on.

Recently Elon Musk held a “cyber rodeo” event, where he showed the world a new version of the Cybertruck pickup truck, which had been criticized for its garish appearance. In general, Tesla knows how to create cool cars and make great shows out of their presentations.

Only one of the main features of Tesla cars, the automatic driving system, causes mixed feelings. On the one hand, the ability to present the driving process to a built-in computer is very intriguing – at this rate, in the future people won’t even have to take a driver’s license exam. On the other hand, because of too much trust in Tesla’s autopilot, many people get into terrible accidents and die. In 2021, I told you about the horrific death of two men inside a Tesla passenger car – the footage from the accident scene is frightening. So at this point, Ilon Musk’s cars aren’t so perfect; we need to keep working.

SpaceX was founded by Ilon Musk in 2002. The main goal of this project is to send people to Mars – it is believed that in the future there will be built a human colony. Work on the implementation of Ilon Musk’s plan is in full swing. The company already has its own spaceport in Texas, rockets and even spaceships. To send people to the Red Planet, the entrepreneur wants to use the huge Starship spacecraft, the development of which is going quite well. It would seem that everything is perfect, but why is Elon Musk investing billions of dollars in the development of a planet that is almost unfit for comfortable life? It would be one thing if it were a replica of Earth, uncontaminated by hazardous gases and garbage. But Mars is a desolate planet that requires protective suits, food sent from Earth, and so on to live on. Many people think that it would be better for an entrepreneur to invest his fortune in saving our home Earth, because if everything is okay with it, then there will be no need to save ourselves on other planets.

In 2016, Elon Musk founded The Boring Company, which is engaged in the creation of underground tunnels. Tesla cars were supposed to go underground, stand on rails and reach the right place at 200 kilometers per hour without any traffic jams or other problems. In 2021, the company finished digging a 2.4-kilometer tunnel under Las Vegas, a project that cost the businessman $50 million. So, do you think Tesla car owners now have the ability to avoid traffic jams by using the underground tracks? No.

After the opening of the tunnel in Las Vegas, journalists got into it. And it all looked very silly – there are no rails, the cars are driven manually and accelerate only to 56 kilometers per hour. And during the CES 2022 exhibition a traffic jam appeared inside the tunnel. Why do we need these tunnels at all?

Neuralink is the youngest project of Ilon Musk, the purpose of which is to chip people. This is not an exaggeration, because the company’s experts really want to implant chips in people’s brains that can cure paralysis and many other brain-related diseases.

Overall, the company is doing a good thing; the technology being developed is capable of making our lives easier and saving many people from devastating diseases. But in today’s world, the word “chipping” causes genuine fear and even aggression in people, because many believe that this way companies will be able to count and even control their thoughts. So we can even assume that Neuralink technology is way ahead of its time, and in today’s world, it will be treated with great distrust.

All in all, Elon Musk is an extremely ambiguous person. For many people he is a genius who changes the world for the better, and for others he is a fraud and provocateur, who has no understanding of technology at all and can only make money.
