Sony will release a Portal gaming tablet for PlayStation 5

Sony has unveiled a new device called Portal, which is a gaming tablet. It is not a standalone gadget, it works only in conjunction with the PlayStation console, and exclusively 5th generation. In the absence of a wireless connection to the console or in the absence of signal interference, it will be of little use.

The idea to create Portal comes from the fact that a family usually has no more than one large quality TV set, so the household queues up to it – some want to watch shows, and some want to play on PS5. Portal was created for the latter, as a separate mobile screen for the console, combined with a gamepad. It has its own speakers and headphone jack, so as not to disturb anyone.

Portal has no memory, and you can’t download or upload anything to it. It runs on Remote Play technology, which realizes remote playback of content from the PS5 as streaming. The screen diagonal is 8 inches, but its brightness and color reproduction parameters have no adjustments. Controls are similar to the DualSense wireless controller with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchpad.

The Portal will cost $199.99.
