Japan does not intend to abandon the OG-2020 because of the coronavirus

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga at a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden said that Japan does not plan to abandon plans to host the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, despite the deterioration of the situation with COVID-19 in the country.

“As I mentioned at the beginning, I expressed my determination to hold the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo this summer as a symbol of global unity. And President Biden has again expressed his support, ” Suga said.

He stressed that the Japanese will continue to carefully and fully prepare for the Games.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Summer Olympic Games, which were scheduled to take place in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9, 2020, were postponed by a year.

Earlier, the head of the ROC told whether Russian athletes will be vaccinated before going to the OG.
