Carrie Fisher received a posthumous name star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Carrie Fisher, known for her role as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” movie series, was posthumously honored with a named star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony took place on May 4, when fans mark Star Wars Day. Billie Lourd, the daughter of the actress who died seven years ago of a heart attack, attended. “I say, you’re not really famous until you get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mom, you made it,” the agency quoted Lourdes as saying.

Fisher was born in Los Angeles in 1956. She became known after performing the role of Princess Leia Organa in the “Star Wars” movie series, she also starred in the motion pictures “When Harry Met Sally”, “Heartbreakers”. She is the author of the novel Postcards from the Edge of the Abyss, a Grammy Award winner (2018; posthumously). She last appeared on screens in 2015, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released.

“Hollywood’s Walk of Fame is located in northeast Los Angeles. The idea for it originated in 1953, and the first star was embedded in the sidewalk on August 15, 1958, its owner being actor Preston Foster. The alley was officially opened on November 23, 1960. By that time, there were 1,500 stars on the boulevard; currently, there are more than 2,700.
