Biden overturns Trump's executive order banning TikTok and WeChat

US President Joe Biden has signed a decree on data protection in the United States, canceling the order of his predecessor Donald Trump on restrictions on the work of the social networks TikTok and WeChat. The corresponding document was published by the White House press service.

At the same time, the new document signed by Biden obliges the Ministry of Trade to carefully check foreign mobile applications associated with potential opponents of Washington, which may threaten US interests.

In August 2020, the then head of the White House, Donald Trump, signed an executive order restricting the use of TikTok and WeChat in the United States. The actions of the previous US administration were carried out within the framework of the policy of anti-Chinese sanctions.
