U.S. won't be able to pay debt money by June 15

Chances that the U.S. will be able to pay its debt obligations by June 15 are low if the problem of the national debt is not solved. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated this.

“I signaled in my last letter to Congress that we expect to be unable to pay bills in early June and possibly by June 1. I will continue to keep Congress informed, but I certainly have not changed my assessment. I think that’s the deadline,” Yellen said.

“There is always uncertainty about our tax revenues and spending. It’s hard to be absolutely certain about that, but my assessment is that the chances of reaching June 15 with the ability to pay all of our bills are pretty low,” Yellen said.
