The United States condemns the shelling of Israel from the Gaza Strip and welcomes the peacemaking efforts by countries in the region, said State Dept’s Palladino during briefing.
“We welcome efforts by regional allies that are seeking to restore calm and prevent further attacks. And I have nothing further on that,” added Palladino.
Mediation between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip is carried out, in particular, by the government of Egypt.
Earlier, hundreds of missiles were fired from Gaza into Israeli territory, and in response, the Israel Defense Forces launched a series of attacks on the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday, there was a lull of hours after the truce reached, but later new missile launches were reported.
