Trump suggested that US presidential contenders should take a mental aptitude test

All applicants for the post of President of the United States should pass a test for mental ability. This was stated by former US President Donald Trump, who noted that the current leader Joe Biden is unlikely to pass such a test.

“I just passed a physical examination. And I passed the cognitive exam, I think actually if you’re running for president, I think we have to take a mental capacity test, this guy [Biden] can’t pass a cognitive exam,” Trump said, speaking at a meeting with voters in the state of Iowa.

Earlier, Republican U.S. presidential contender Nikki Haley also advocated for mandatory intelligence tests for age-appropriate politicians running for top public office.

Biden, who turns 81 in November 2023, often finds himself in awkward situations and makes various reservations in his public speeches, which are jokingly called “Bidenisms” in the United States. Republicans use this in partisan battles to question the head of state’s mental and physical ability to continue to lead the United States.
