There was a chlorine leak at a chemical plant in Louisiana

A toxic chlorine leak occurred Monday at a DOW chemical plant near Plaquemines in Iberville County, Louisiana. This was reported by state police.

“Louisiana state emergency response units are working on a chlorine leak at the DOW chemical plant in Iberville County,” the police press office wrote on Twitter.

Local residents have been instructed to take shelter in their homes, close all windows and turn off air conditioners to avoid poisoning. The highway adjacent to the plant has been closed.

According to available information, the leak of the toxic substance was preceded by a fire, which is currently extinguished, but the leak itself has not yet been eliminated.
