US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the appointment of Gail Smith as the US Administration’s coordinator for health security and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m sure we’ll rise to the challenge,” Smith said.

It is noted that Smith previously headed the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Earlier, US President Joe Biden promised that by April 19, 90% of the adult population of the country will be eligible for vaccination against the COVID-19 coronavirus infection.
