Saudi Arabia cheated Biden on secret deal

The New York Times writes that Saudi Arabia allegedly deceived U.S. President Joe Biden with a “secret deal” to increase oil production.

According to the publication, which cites unnamed U.S. officials, during a trip to Saudi Arabia, Biden and the kingdom’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman allegedly struck a “secret deal” under which the Middle Eastern nation was to increase oil production from September through December.

“Lawmakers, who learned about the benefits of the trip in closed briefings and other conversations that included details of a previously unannounced oil deal that was supposed to lead to increased production from September through December, appeared outraged that the crown prince had deceived the administration,” the publication said.

The publication does not cite any evidence for this information, other than statements by anonymous “U.S. officials.”

Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said that the United States was reviewing its relations with Saudi Arabia.

On October 5, OPEC+ oil producers agreed at the meeting to reduce production by 2 million barrels per day starting from November.

Washington said afterwards that Biden was disappointed with the OPEC+ decision.
