Pompeo accused the WHO of misinformation after the publication of the report on COVID-19
Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized on Twitter the report of the World Health Organization on the origin of the coronavirus and accused its authors of supporting the Chinese “disinformation campaign”.
“That’s why I recommended that the US leave the WHO,” he added.
According to the diplomat, the most likely source of COVID-19 is the Institute of Virology in Wuhan. Pompeo also suggested that the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is working with Chinese President Xi Jinping to allegedly help the Chinese leader hide the truth about the spread of the virus.
The former US Secretary of State did not provide evidence of “collusion” between Gebreyesus and Xi Jinping.
The WHO on Tuesday published the full report of the organization’s international team of experts on a visit to Wuhan to identify the origin of the coronavirus, in which it called a COVID-19 leak from the laboratory “extremely unlikely.” The head of the organization also noted that experts have not found the source of the virus, and urged to continue its search. However, according to the report, the coronavirus could have been transmitted to humans from bats through another animal.
