Most Republicans polled are willing to support Trump in the U.S. election

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is the most preferred candidate among Republicans in the race for the head of the U.S. administration in 2024, even after a grand jury in New York voted to indict him. That’s according to a YouGov poll released Saturday.

52% of respondents support Trump, while his strongest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, has 21%. The other possible Republican candidates are significantly less popular. Former Vice President Mike Pence is supported by 3% of Republicans, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley by 5%.

The poll was conducted March 30-31 among more than 1,000 voters who support the Republican Party. The margin of error was 3.3 percentage points.
