Largest U.S. aircraft carrier sails to the Atlantic

The newest and most advanced U.S. aircraft carrier has left for its first deployment to conduct joint exercises with allies and patrol in the Atlantic Ocean amid growing tensions around the world.

The aircraft carrier Gerald Ford began her deployment to the North Atlantic Ocean as the lead ship of an aircraft carrier strike group that includes six NATO ships, several U.S. warships and a submarine.

“The entire Atlantic will be our maneuvering ground,” the ship’s commander, Navy Capt. Paul Lanzilotta, told reporters before the deployment. – “We’re going to do just about every mission that’s in the naval aviation portfolio.
