Hackers attacked Dallas city services

Hackers carried out a ransomware virus attack on city services in Dallas, Texas, shutting down courts and disabling police and fire department websites. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is working with city officials on the incident.

Courts in the city were down Wednesday and Thursday because of the hackers’ actions. The web pages of the city’s fire department and police were inaccessible on Friday. The city’s computer dispatch system was also damaged, according to a police spokesman.

“The FBI is aware of the incident and is coordinating with the city of Dallas,” the FBI said in a statement.

A group of Royal hackers was behind the attack. U.S. officials link it to Conti cybercriminals.
