Desantis will run for president of the United States next week

Florida Governor Ron Desantis will file to run for president of the United States in the 2024 election next week.

In addition to filing with the U.S. Federal Election Commission, the Desantis team, who many American media outlets believe is a major rival to former United States President Donald Trump, will hold a campaign fundraising event next week.

According to an NBC poll conducted in April, at least 31% of U.S. Republican Party voters would support Desantis’ candidacy if the party’s primaries were held now. Meanwhile, 46% favored Trump as the nominee for the nation’s highest office.

The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 2024. Trump declared in November 2022 to run for the nation’s highest office.
