Chris Pratt will play Mario in Super Mario Bros.

Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the iconic Mario game character, has announced the December 21, 2022 release of a full-length “Super Mario Bros.” movie. Illumination Studios, known for the animated films “Ugly Me” and “The Secret Life of Pets,” is filming. Directors chosen Aaron Horvath and Michael Elenich, the main role will perform Chris Pratt.

The world has already seen the film adaptation of Mario’s adventures – a film from 1993, which was a complete failure. According to the performers of the main roles, Hoskins and Leguizamo, on the set there was such a mess that they preferred to experience it in a drunken state. The motion picture was not notable for spectacular visuals, its plot with a stretch fit for a computer game, but most importantly – the gamers as the audience did not see anything like the beloved gameplay, and completely disappointed.

Disappointment also befell Nintendo, which abandoned the idea of making video game movies for decades. But everything is changing – the new movie about Mario will be fully animated, no one will make Chris Pratt personally jump among the scenery, he will voice the hero. In addition to him, the project involves Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen and others.
