California came out on top in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the United States

California came out on top in the United States in terms of the number of cases of coronavirus infection, according to data from the local Los Angeles Times.

According to the newspaper, on Tuesday the number of detected cases of COVID-19 infection in the state exceeded 409 thousand. Thus, California bypassed New York in this indicator and came out on top in the country.

In New York, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, 407,326 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded. In turn, the Los Angeles Times estimated that 408,181 cases of COVID-19 were registered in New York.

There are already more than 3.9 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States and more than 142 thousand victims.

On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 14.5 million cases of infection have already been identified in the world, over 607 thousand people have died.
