Bill Gates warned that the next pandemic will be ten times worse

Microsoft founder, multi-billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates believes that the world is not ready for the next pandemic, which could be ten times worse than the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are not ready for the next pandemic. I hope that in two years the situation will look different. Vaccines, tests, medicines, epidemiology, monitoring-there is a lot that can be done, ” Gates said in an interview with the German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung.

According to Gates, COVID has become a part of everyday life as much as earthquakes, tornadoes, or climate change. “The task of governments is to protect citizens from these events. Already during this pandemic, there would have been a big difference if the preparation had been a little better, ” he added.

Gates stressed that better diagnostic capabilities would allow faster detection of infected people and significantly reduce the number of deaths, especially in the United States. “We must learn a lesson,” he said.

“This pandemic is terrible, but a future pandemic could be ten times worse,” Gates said, noting that the response to the pandemic must be global.
