Biden announces "summit for democracy" in December
U.S. leader Joe Biden announced a “summit for democracy” in December.
“Biden is pleased to announce that in December he will bring together leaders from various world democracies for a virtual summit,” the statement said.
The virtual meeting will be held Dec. 9-10 and will focus on three main themes: defending against authoritarianism, fighting against corruption and promoting respect for human rights.
It is noted that the summit is planned to be repeated in a year’s time, but in a face-to-face format.
