Washington residents gathered on the National Alley in the center of the city for a snow battle.
So the city celebrated the first snowfall of the year. The action was called the “Battle of Snomicron”, beating the name of the coronavirus strain “omicron”. The participants of the battle were urged not to forget about COVID-19 security measures and to maintain social distance.
Such duels are an old city tradition. In Washington, there is even an Association of Snowball fights (Snowball Fight Association), which annually organizes snowball fights in city squares and parks.
