Tropical storm Colin threatens the coast of North and South Carolina

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami warned of the possibility of flash flooding along the Carolina coast through Sunday morning. At 8 a.m. Eastern American Daylight Time Saturday, the center of the storm was about 25 miles southwest of the resort town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was moving northeast at 8 mph.

The Hurricane Center reported that a tropical storm warning is in effect for areas of South and North Carolina. The storm is expected to move into the Atlantic on Monday.

In addition, Tropical Storm Bonnie made landfall in Nicaragua, bringing the threat of flooding due to heavy rain, heading for a predicted rapid transition to the Pacific Ocean and possible intensification into a hurricane.

“Bonnie” made landfall late Friday night on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, about 75 miles south of Bluefields, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. Forecasters warned of a risk of significant flooding, with rainfall up to 8 inches and more in some places.
