Most US residents do not mind if the position of President of the country will take gay. This follows from the results of a survey conducted by the NBC News / Wall Street Journal.
So, 54 of the respondents said they were positive about non-traditional candidates, another 14 percent were “enthusiastic.”
The survey was conducted after the mayor of South Bend (Indiana) Pete Buttigieg announced his intention to participate in the presidential campaign in 2020. The politician is openly gay, he made a coming-out in 2015.
Since 2006, the attitude of Americans to this issue has changed significantly. Then more than a third of respondents said that they would not be satisfied with a candidate-gay or lesbian.
