US President Donald Trump confirmed his intention to to completely or partially close the border with Mexico, if it does not cope with the flow of illegal migrants in the United States on its part.
“Now, if they don’t or if we don’t make a deal with Congress, the border is going to be closed, 100%….. This is their southern border they have to protect. Then we’re going to close the southern border, that’s going to be it. Or we’re going to close large sections of the border, maybe not all of it,” Trump told reporters.
He admitted that it would have a negative effect on the American economy.
“It’s a very big trading partner, but to me, trading is very important, the borders are very important, but security is what is most important to me. I have to have security,” Trump added.
According to him, the closure of the border will stop the drug traffic for hundreds of millions of dollars.
