The U.S. said there would be "consequences" for China if it tried to help Russia

The U.S. has told China that it will not allow Russia to compensate for losses due to sanctions. This was announced by Jake Sullivan, assistant to the U.S. President for National Security.

“We have conveyed to Beijing that we will not tolerate any country compensating Russia for losses because of sanctions,” he said.

Sullivan, however, did not give a definite answer as to whether this means sanctions could be imposed on Beijing.

“I’m not going to publicly voice the threats, but I will say that we are telling China, directly through nonpublic channels, that there will no doubt be consequences if we try to help Russia evade or compensate for sanctions,” Sullivan added.
