Coronavirus deaths soar in U.S.
In the United States, the daily number of deaths from the effects of the coronavirus disease rose sharply by 18.21 percent amid the spread of the omicron strain. This was reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Since Jan. 1, for example, the daily number of covid deaths has risen from an average of 1,142 to 1,350. The figure was the highest since October 2021. The number of cases reported per day with the coronavirus has increased 48.11 percent since the beginning of this year, from 414,900 to 614,500.
Overall in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins University, the number of those infected has already reached 59.4 million and 836,000 people have died. The U.S. continues to rank first in the world on these two indicators.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden expressed confidence that the situation with COVID-19 would improve. He said that the coronavirus pandemic will be brought under control. “We will be able to control it. The new normal is not what’s happening now, it will be better,” Biden said.
