Psaki explained Biden's record drop in ratings
White House press secretary Jen Psaki attributed the record decline of US President Joe Biden’s rating to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, noting that it would not affect the US administration’s plans to push his agenda.
The U.S. polling institute Gallup previously released poll results that show 53% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance – the highest since the beginning of his presidency.
“I think the country is going through a lot right now. People are still living with the threat of COVID-19, it’s a concern and an anxiety for many. Even those who don’t approve of the president’s methods of dealing with the pandemic are still affected by it,” Psaki said during the briefing.
The Biden administration, she said, “understands these circumstances.” At the same time, Psaki stressed, the goal of the U.S. president’s team is still to “move his agenda forward and improve the lives of American citizens. And we’re doing it for the long haul,” Jen Psaki added.
