Windows 11 will be released on October 5
The Windows 11 operating system will be available for users on October 5. Microsoft, which developed the OS, announced this on Tuesday.
“On October 5, 2021, owners of computers with Windows 10 installed will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free, and computers with Windows 11 already installed will go on sale,” the company said in a press release.
Users of all devices that can switch to the upgraded OS are expected to be able to do so by mid-2022. Microsoft will provide support for Windows 10 until Oct. 14, 2025 – the next update to this version of Windows is expected this year.
Microsoft unveiled Windows 11 in June. The creators have updated the design of the operating system: in particular, changed the “Start” menu, which will now be located in the center of the screen. Moreover the new OS got updated design, improved support for dual monitors, widgets to access different services and a number of other innovations.
One of the innovations is the ability to use Android apps in Windows 11.
