Trump thinks the U.S. has more important issues to deal with than his trial

Former US President Donald Trump is convinced that the United States should be dealing with more pressing domestic and international issues instead of “wasting time and money” on his trial.

“To think we’re suing, wasting time and money, and people are dying all over the world. And this country can end it. With inflation and other problems, it’s shameful to waste time on a trial,” he told reporters after his trial for fraud in the valuation of Trump Organization assets.

Trump recalled the results of a poll of voters published by The New York Times on Sunday. They show that he is ahead of incumbent U.S. President Joe Biden in popularity in the states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania, which are among the most important in terms of the outcome of the upcoming presidential election.

“People are fed up with what’s going on, they’re tired,” Trump is convinced. He also has no doubt that the fraud case should be dropped immediately. “It’s a disgrace. This case should never have been brought at all, it should be closed immediately. Fraud is the court here. We’re wasting days and months and in the meantime look what’s happening in the world,” Trump said.

Before the session began, Trump characterized the legal proceedings as “political warfare” and “election interference.” He has no doubt that he is “under attack from the Biden administration.”

The New York prosecutor’s office’s lawsuit against Trump and his company in a civil fraud case was filed in September 2022. According to the version of the state prosecutor Letitia James, the company provided incorrect information about the value of assets in order to get more favorable conditions on loans and insurance. According to the prosecutor’s office, the value of assets was overstated by $2.23 billion to $3.6 billion. In particular, according to the office, the value of Trump’s estate in Florida, his apartments in the Trump Tower skyscraper in Manhattan, a number of office buildings and golf courses were overstated. Trump’s defense insists the allegations are baseless and the price of the property could have changed over time for various reasons.
