Trump called the possible sending of U.S. soldiers to Europe insane
Former U.S. President Donald Trump called the Joe Biden administration’s plans to send more U.S. troops to Europe amid the escalating situation around Ukraine insane.
“It’s crazy. It would never have happened under me. Now it’s Taiwan’s turn,” he said on The Great America Show podcast, commenting on the administration’s statements about possibly sending American troops to Europe.
“Our country is no longer respected,” he added. Trump also noted that such actions by Biden have the potential to “start World War III.”
Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said Monday that the U.S. is ready to send 8,500 troops to Europe, but a final decision has yet to be made. Speaking about what kind of troops can go to Europe, Kirby indicated that they are combat units, intelligence, aviation, medics and transport units. The Pentagon spokesman stressed that so far we are only talking about putting this contingent on high alert.
