Psaki answered a question about possible U.S. sanctions against Putin

The U.S. is not giving up any options when considering possible sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation around Ukraine, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said when asked whether restrictive measures against Russian President Vladimir Putin were being considered.

“Our policy is not to give up on any available options,” Psaki said in response to a request for comment on U.S. President Joe Biden, who has allowed restrictive measures against Putin.

Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of “aggressive actions” by the West and Ukraine, saying it threatens no one and has no intention to attack anyone, while statements about “Russian aggression” are used as a pretext to place more NATO military equipment near Russia’s borders. At the same time, Kiev and Western states have recently been expressing concern about the alleged intensification of “aggressive actions” on the part of Russia near Ukraine’s borders. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia moves troops within its territory and at its own discretion. According to him, this does not threaten anyone and no one should be concerned.
