Trump accused Meghan Markle of disrespecting the British royal family

Former U.S. President Donald Trump said that the wife of British Prince Harry, American Meghan Markle was disrespectful to the royal family, revealing a number of details about the reign of Buckingham Palace.

“I am not a fan of hers. Never have been, since day one. I think Harry is horribly used, one day he’s going to regret it,” the 45th White House leader noted in an interview with former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage on GB News. According to Trump, Meghan Markle has contributed to “the destruction of Prince Harry’s relationship with his family, which hurts” Queen Elizabeth II. “I think she’s being very disrespectful to the royal family and, more importantly, to the queen herself,” the former president said. His interview will be broadcast on British television on December 1, but local media began publishing excerpts as early as Tuesday night.

At the same time, Trump described Elizabeth II as “a great woman and a historical figure. The former American president met with the British monarch twice (in 2018 and 2019) as part of his state visits to London.

Meghan Markle made sensational statements about the British royal family in an interview with American TV host Oprah Winfrey on CBS Television on March 7. In it, the Duchess of Sussex mentioned that her husband’s relatives were concerned about the color of her unborn child. She did not say who exactly made those statements. The former American actress also revealed that during her first pregnancy she was haunted by suicidal thoughts, the reason for which was pressure from some members of the royal family and the media, she also described herself as a victim of “a real smear campaign.”

During his conversation with Farage, Trump also spoke out about his relationship with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who, despite his claims of friendship with the 45th American president, was one of the first in the world to congratulate Joe Biden on winning the 2020 presidential election at a time when the vote had not yet been finalized.

“I like him. I’ve always gotten along with him. He’s shifted a little bit toward liberalism. If you talk about his position on energy, I’m surprised he let it happen because you have one of the most beautiful countries in the world and you’re destroying it with these wind turbines,” Trump said, commenting on Johnson’s initiatives to bet on wind energy as part of the green transition. – Boris is wrong if he’s going to get serious about wind turbines. He’s making a big mistake.”

In October, the U.K. government released a government strategy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This program involves an accelerated transition to green energy through the construction of new nuclear power plants and offshore wind farms. The authorities promise that by 2035, the country will enjoy exceptionally clean energy.
