The White House demanded that Speaker Johnson drop the impeachment case against Biden
White House Counselor for Legal Affairs Edward Siskel sent a letter to the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson with a demand to stop the impeachment investigation against President Joe Biden.
“I am writing to you today because it has become abundantly clear: the impeachment initiated by the representatives of the Republican Party in the House is over,” he pointed out. “The majority in the House should work with the president on the economy, national security and other important priorities for the American people and stop wasting time on antics like this,” Siskel added.
He said all of the data that Republicans have gathered as part of the investigation “has proven that, in fact, the president did nothing improper.” “On the contrary, they have shown the opposite of what the Republican Party representatives in the House claimed,” the adviser emphasized. “It’s time to move forward, Mr. Speaker. Impeachment is complete,” Siskel concluded.
The Republicans currently controlling the House of Representatives are conducting an impeachment investigation against Biden. In this context, they are examining, among other things, the financial affairs of the president’s brother and son. On December 13, 2023, the lower house of Congress approved a resolution ordering the impeachment investigation to continue. On Dec. 2, Johnson said the White House is preventing Republicans from investigating alleged crimes they suspect the head of state and his family members of committing.
Republicans have previously repeatedly said that the Biden family receives funds from companies, including foreign ones, for using political influence for business interests. Joe Biden denies that he was involved in influence peddling, including during his previous periods of public service – when he was Vice President of the United States and a member of the Congressional Senate.
