Hunter Biden declined to testify at an open congressional hearing

Hunter Biden, refused to testify at the public hearings in Congress, where he was invited by the House Oversight Committee as part of the investigation into the impeachment of the 46th President of the United States.

According to Hunter Biden’s lawyer Abby Lowell, the hearings are being held for the media and not in the interest of the investigation.

The Republicans controlling the House of Representatives claim that Joe Biden and his family improperly profited from the political decisions in which the current president participated while serving as vice president from 2009 to 2017. They have not, however, provided proof.

The White House denies that wrongdoing occurred. Hunter Biden has repeatedly said in testimony to congressional investigators that his father was not involved in his activities as a businessman and received no financial benefit from them.

Republican lawmakers have invited Hunter Biden, as well as three of his former employees, to an investigative hearing scheduled for March 20. An attorney said Hunter Biden will be unable to attend the hearing because of a court hearing the next day in California.

Biden Jr.’s refusal followed a lengthy dispute with the committee. A subpoena was sent to him.

The president’s son initially refused to attend the hearing, but after being threatened with contempt liability against the House of Representatives, Hunter Biden appeared to testify last month.

Hunter Biden himself calls the investigation baseless. In addition, in mid-February, special prosecutor David Weiss, who is leading the criminal investigation of the president’s son, said that the former FBI informant was charged with providing false information about the president’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s business activities in Ukraine. That testimony was the basis for the Republican-led indictment.
