The number of people infected with coronavirus in the world exceeds 422 million
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the world has exceeded 422 million, the World Health Organization said Monday.
The WHO reported 422,188,754 infected and 5,876,766 deaths. The number of people infected had risen by 1,597,571 in 24 hours and the death toll had risen by 9,197.
The WHO statistics include only officially confirmed data on the infected and the dead provided by the states. The milestone of 400 million infections was passed on February 10, 350 million on January 25, 300 million on January 8, 250 million on November 9 last year, and 200 million on August 5.
The United States has the largest number of confirmed infections reported to the WHO with 77,729,481 cases. It was followed by India (42,822,473), Brazil (28,058,862), France (21,587,922) and the United Kingdom (18,580,220).
