The number of hospitalizations of children with COVID-19 has skyrocketed in the U.S.
The number of hospital admissions for children under 17 with coronavirus in the United States has increased by an average of 48% in the past two weeks, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show.
The number of patients under 17 admitted to hospitals with confirmed coronavirus rose 48.2% last week compared with the week ending Dec. 19.
The Omicron coronavirus strain accounts for about 59% of COVID cases nationwide. According to the CDC, there were 441,278 infections in the U.S. on Dec. 27, surpassing the previous record high of 290,000 from Dec. 20.
