The Grammy ceremony will take place on April 3 in Las Vegas
The Grammy Music Awards ceremony, which was to be held on January 31 in Los Angeles, California, will be held on April 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was announced by the organizers of the event.
Despite the postponement, the Recording Academy and CBS Television expect to hold the ceremony in its full format. “The 64th Grammy Awards has been rescheduled and will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 3,” the announcement reads.
It is noted that comedian, actor and television host Trevor Noah will host the ceremony, as he did in 2021. MGM Arena can seat 17,000 people.
In all, awards will be presented in 85 categories, including two new ones – “Best Musical Performance” in ethnic music and “Best Urban Album” for Latin performers.
The idea for the award came from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the mid-1950s, when it began selecting candidates from the recording industry who would qualify for a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. In 1957, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences; or The Recording Academy, The Recording Academy, was created to give the future award. In 1958 that organization established an award called the Grammy. The prize is a small gold-plated gramophone.
