The entire batch of Brabus debut motorcycles sold out in two minutes
This unusual project turned out to be uncommonly successful. German company Brabus, best known for tuning bodies and engines for Mercedes-Benz, together with the largest Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM created motorcycle 1300R based on its recent novelty – 1290 Super Duke R Evo.
The purpose of German designers is to transform the range of Austrian Duke bikes into elite machines, comparable in their elegance with jewelry. Only instead of the number of carats and unique cuts, they will have a powerful V-shaped LC8 engine with a volume of more than 1,300 cc and a capacity of about 180 hp.
Being experts in the field of design, Brabus representatives left the power plant unchanged, giving preference to the creation of its own individual identity. However, we should make a reservation: the only part of the engine, designed by Brabus, is a twin exhaust pipe.
Externally, the Brabus 1300R differs from its KTM “brother” in the presence of a round headlight and two lateral rectangular air intakes. The body of the bike is abundantly equipped with unique details made of carbon fiber, in particular, forged wheel disks, designer’s brake and clutch levers and other components. Comfortable heated seats in black or red are available.
KTM’s contribution is an electronics package complete with the latest WP APEX semi-active suspension system. Thanks to the efforts of Brabus designers, the 1300R is 6 kg lighter than the 1290 Super Duke R Evo.
Brabus and KTM obviously did not expect that the produced batch of 154 luxury motorcycles priced at almost 40,000 euros each would “break away” even faster than the proverbial hot cakes – just 1:55 minutes from the moment of sales start.
