Singer Loretta Lynn has died

Singer and composer Loretta Lynn, one of the most popular country music performers of the 1960s and 1980s, has died at 91.

“Our precious mother, Loretta Lynn, died peacefully this morning, Oct. 4, in her sleep at home on her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” a statement from relatives. The cause of Lynn’s death was not given.

Lynn is best known for her hit “Coal Miner’s Daughter” (1971) and her studio album of the same name.

For her career Loretta Lynn won Grammy, American Music Awards and others.
