Senate approves bill to raise the U.S. debt ceiling

The U.S. Senate on Thursday approved a bill to raise the national debt ceiling in order to prevent a default in the country.

Sixty-three members of the upper chamber of Congress supported the initiative, while 36 opposed it. “The bill is approved,” the hearing chairman said.

The initiative passed the full House of Representatives Wednesday night. The document will now be sent to U.S. President Joe Biden for his signature. The American leader has previously repeatedly urged lawmakers to approve the bill.
