US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed the hope that Washington and Moscow will be able to find common interests in many areas, and a good example of this is work in Syria and Afghanistan.
In an interwiev Pompeo noted said that “We had good talks on Venezuela when I met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov last week in Finland … Once again I will meet with Lavrov and President Putin in Sochi. We’ll see how much progress we can make.”
Pompeo added that the US mission in Venezuela is simple: Washington does not want foreign intervention.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Pompeo’s visit to Russia.
According to the statements of Russian diplomats, the state secretary will hold talks with Lavrov, during which the parties will discuss including Syria, Venezuela and Ukraine.
