NATO declared its readiness for a direct confrontation with Russia

Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Rob Bauer stated that the North Atlantic Alliance is ready for a direct confrontation with Russia. He stated this position in an interview with the Portuguese TV channel RTP.

Touching on the host’s relevant question, Bauer said: “We are ready.”

However, he stipulated that NATO would be ready to respond only if Russia crosses a red line by invading one of the member countries of the alliance.

Bauer stressed that NATO member states should be better prepared, since the military initiative now belongs to Russia.

“The fact that your enemy has better weapons is not your enemy’s problem. It is your problem,” he said.

During the interview, the issue of introducing a “peacetime war economy” was raised, but Bauer acknowledged that the process would be difficult.
