Already 104 mass shooting incidents have occurred in the U.S. since the beginning of this year. The research organization Gun Violence Archive reported this on Tuesday.

During the first two months of 2023, almost 3,000 people were killed by firearms, and 964 children were injured. As CNN notes, these are record numbers in U.S. history.

“Americans are tired of fearing that they or their families will be the next victims. These regular American tragedies should be a call to action for our political leaders. The cost of political inaction is becoming increasingly tragically obvious,” said Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence head Chris Brown.

Gun violence incidents in the U.S. in 2022 killed more than 43,600 people. More than 37,900 people were injured last year, including 4,400 children. More than 1,600 children were killed.

Gun Violence Archive was founded in 2013. It publishes daily statistics on gun violence incidents based on information it receives from about 7,500 sources.
