Las Vegas prepares for first full-fledged Consumer Electronics Show in two years

The latest advances in the use of artificial intelligence in fields ranging from cars and robots to home appliances will take center stage at the Consumer Electronics Show, which opens Thursday in Las Vegas.

In 2021, because of the pandemic, the show was held in a virtual format, and last year it was held in a hybrid format. This year, tens of thousands of visitors are hoping for a return of crowded halls and fast-paced deal-making, which has long been a hallmark of the annual gadget extravaganza.

“The 2022 show was just a shadow of itself: empty halls, no hotel meetings,” Techsponential analyst Avi Greengart told AFP. – This time we are expecting lots of people when it will be hard to push through, and meetings behind closed doors – that’s the point of exhibitions.”

The show officially opens Thursday, but companies will begin competing for attention with their latest technological innovations as early as Tuesday.

The show will cover more than seven acres, from the huge Las Vegas Convention Center to the pavilions in the parking lots. Ballrooms and banquet halls throughout the city will be used to accelerate business.
