Joe Biden: American unity is our greatest strength

On the eve of 9/11, President Joe Biden signed a proclamation commemorating Patriot’s Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, established by Congress in 2001 and 2009 to commemorate the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Biden recalled that 21 years ago, ordinary Americans “did extraordinarily heroic things.”

“These patriots … remind us that we are a great country because we are good people. On this Patriot’s Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, we pay tribute to the heroes and victims of 9/11 and reaffirm our commitment to the spirit of unity, patriotism and service,” the presidential proclamation said. – To the families across America whose pain is especially important on this day: our entire nation, including Jill and myself, holds you in our hearts and sends you our love.”

The president invited all Americans to visit www.americorps.gov/911-day to commemorate 9/11.

“Unity is what makes us who we as Americans are – it is our greatest strength. When we come together on this day, we demonstrate that even in the darkness, America remains a shining beacon of light and hope to the world,” Joe Biden stressed.

On Sunday, September 11, U.S. flags on federal buildings will be lowered as a sign of mourning. A moment of silence will begin at 8:46 a.m. East Coast time as Americans remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
