Google will delete inactive accounts starting in December

Google will delete accounts that have not been used for two years. This is according to a statement from the company’s vice president, Ruth Kriceli, posted on Google’s website.

“Starting this year, if a Google account has not been used for at least two years, we can delete the account and its content, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar), YouTube and Google Photo,” Kriceli said. Only personal accounts will be affected by the new policy, she said; accounts of schools and various organizations are not subject to these changes.

As noted in the message, the company will begin deleting inactive accounts in December 2023, before the account holders will be sent notifications.
