Donald Trump ignored congressional agenda

Donald Trump has not obeyed a subpoena issued by a House special committee investigating the attack by supporters of the former president on the Capitol last year, the committee said Monday.

The special committee investigating the Jan. 6 events said Trump was served with a subpoena on Oct. 21 demanding that he submit documents by Nov. 4 and appear to testify under oath beginning Nov. 14.

“The truth is that Donald Trump, like several of his closest associates, is hiding from the Special Committee investigation and refusing to do what more than a thousand other witnesses have already done,” committee chairman Benny Thompson and vice chairman Liz Cheney said in a statement.

Trump filed the lawsuit Friday in an attempt to avoid being forced to testify or provide any documents to a congressional committee.

The committee held a series of hearings seeking to convey to the public that Trump was responsible for the attack on Congress.

The committee did not say how it would proceed if Trump ignored the subpoena.
