Democrats in the Senate gain another seat and are tied with Republicans, 49-49

It became known that Democrats in the Senate were able to defend another seat. The incumbent Democratic senator from Arizona, Mark Kelly, won against Republican financier Blake Masters, according to the Associated Press.

Thus, the Democrats now need to defend one more seat to retain their majority in the Senate. It could be a victory for Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in a race with Republican Adam Laxalt. As of now, the vote count in Nevada is still underway and Masto is ahead, but Laxalt has assured his supporters that he is staying in the race until the end.

Another chance — for now for both parties — is a fight in Georgia, where incumbent Democratic Senator Rafael Warnock is trying to beat his Republican rival, Herschel Walker.

If the Democrats get one more victory, they will be guaranteed a majority in the upper house of Congress by the vote of Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also the head of the Senate.
