The second debate of the candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party for the presidency of the United States broke the party record in the number of spectators and almost equaled the final of the cult series “Game of Thrones”.
According to NBC, Thursday’s Democratic debate watched 18.1 million viewers, while the debate on Wednesday reached 15.3 million viewers. The previous record for Democrats about 15.5 million viewers set the debate in 2015 between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The last series of “Game of Thrones” on May 19 watched 19 million.
This year, more than 20 people are applying for a Democratic presidential nomination, so the first debate had to be divided into two rounds. On Thursday, four of the five most popular candidates in the polls took part in the debate – Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg.
